The Long and Winding Starbucks Road

Well, I see that Starbucks has started a record label. You know, maybe it's just me, but it doesn't really seem that this is the best of times to be in the music industry.

That said, it's really nice to see that Starbucks has taken a real chance on its first artist, Sir Paul McCartney. This is probably a good deal for Paul, as he probably needs the cash to pay Heather.

I like Paul, really, I do. I think he's had the best post-Beatles career of any of the others, but shouldn't Starbucks have tried to use it's market saturation on some new act that could use the prominent placement?

Oh well, good luck to Starbucks and Paul.

Shoot, me, I like McCartney's post-Beatles work, especially the Wings -- I love "Band on the Run." Okay, lots of his 80s stuff was crap. Still...

George did some early good stuff, faded away to work in movies, lost a lawsuit to Diana Ross, then had a strong return right before death.

And John, there's no telling what John could've done if he'd hadn't quit for most of the 70s to be Yoko's house husband. And John loses a lot of crediblity with me for letting Yoko's screechings dominate some of his work. At least Paul kept Linda on backing vocals and harmonies, and then kept her kind of muted.

And Ringo did "Caveman" and married a Bond girl.
