Houston has four sports talk stations. All of which are, for the most part, of pretty poor quality. And all of which have pretty crappy ratings from what I understand.
Maybe that's because they don't actually broadcast sporting events.
Sure, 610 has the Longhorns, the Texans, and the Rockets. But during the day, god forbid you ask them to replace Jim Rome with an actual sporting event. And the Astros don't air on a sports station, they air on a nutjob talk radio station.
Which brings me to the Aeros. The Aeros are a minor league club. So they shouldn't expect a great radio deal. But really, are all of the sports stations doing so great that they can afford to bypass actual sports programming for another Rome wannabe shouting and insulting people for three hours?
And to make it worse, the Aeros air on a nutjob talk radio station that makes the nutjobs on KTRH -- the home of the Astros -- sound sane. And today, with the Aeros playing at 11:00 a.m., they're not even on the radio -- god forbid Dennis Praeger not get his air time.
Seriously, is it expecting too much to have actual sports programming airing as it happens on a sports radio station? Do you really expect me to believe that the Aeros would get a worse rating than Colin Cowherd?
And this is a note to Charlie Pallilo. Charlie, I'm a fan. You're the best thing on sports talk in Houston. But dude, you work for a sports station. You shouldn't be bitching because your chat time was cut in half so that you could air a University of Houston basketball game. That's an actual sports program after all.

Amen. They've gotta get the Aeros off the nutjob station.
And BTW, I'm watching the game and I'm gonna call it right now... Grand Rapids wins the Western Conference this year. They are crazy good... first period was like a 20 minute penalty kill for the Aeros.
