The Houston Aeros went on the road last night and lost 2-1 to the Milwaukee Admirals. That's not too bad a thing, seeing how the Admirals have been a really hot team.
Barry Brust got the start again, and he was nearly perfect, again, stopping 26 of 27 shots. But this game went into a shootout, and as all of you Aeros fans know, Brust hasn't been so hot in the shootout. Coach Kevin Constantine said last week that they were seriously considering going with Nolan Schaefer for the shootout because of how bad Brust has been in the shootout.
Last night, Constantine did go with Schaefer for the shootout.
And once again, the Aeros lost in the shootout.
Schaefer only allowed two goals -- which is rather good considering he had been on the bench all night and is really rather good considering how bad Brust has been -- but the offense failed to come through, and the Aeros shooters just couldn't get the job done.
The good news is that the Aeros have yet to lose to a team in the West Division this season. They are 10-0-1-1 against the West this season, which is a good thing since the Aeros are in the West Division. However, when it comes to Milwaukee, the Aeros are only 2-0-1-1. And the Aeros have yet to win a game in the shootout this season.
With the way the schedule is set up, I would expect Nolan Schaefer to get some ice time, probably Saturday night. And I also think that, come the next shootout, Schaefer will be in the goal.
The Aeros have three games this weekend, playing the Rockford IceHogs in Rockford on Friday and Saturday night, then playing the Peoria Rivermen on Sunday afternoon.
