So, for the hell of it, I met with my insurance agent yesterday to get some info on medical insurance. It's not looking like there's a job coming anytime soon, and if my business venture ever takes off -- which is looking to be increasingly unlikely -- I'm going to need to come up with some insurance.
While we were talking, I got to listen to him go off on how evil the government is, and how we really don't want the government deciding medical decisions for us. He's a nice enough guy, so I just shut up and let him talk, especially as he got to telling me how, because of my medical history, I would either be denied coverage by most insurers, or I would have coverage of several of my medical issues excluded from my insurance.
He didn't seem to catch the irony of what he was saying.
It's wrong for the government to dictate my medical coverage -- which I'm not convinced is going to happen -- but it's okay for the insurance company to do the same thing -- which he's telling me they're going to do.
But it's all my fault, I guess. That's what I get for being a loser who couldn't keep a job. I know better now.
